Choosing a journal to publish in

It can be difficult to know where to aim when submitting a journal article, but this is a step you might want to do before starting to write a manuscript. Typically there are multiple considerations. For example the readership of the journal, the fit with the type of work, the length and format of journal articles, how selective the journal is, and whether the journal is open access. Some ways to identify potential journals are to look at where the lab has published before, look at the journals related papers are published (e.g., your reference list) and discuss a short list of potential journals with Krista.

With respect to open access, it is important to consider that Concordia University is part of the CRKN Transformative Agreement. This means that papers whose corresponding author is affiliated with Concordia University can be published open access without paying an APC (Article Processing Charge), or paying a reduced fee.

Currently, the following publishing houses relevant to the lab's work offer full APC waivers:

"Authors affiliated with an institution participating in the license agreement will be able to publish an unlimited number of their articles as open access in all Cambridge hybrid and gold journals for the duration of the agreement (2022-2024). No article processing charges (APC) fees will be levied for open access publication".

Important: all hybrid and gold journals are eligible

Currently, the following publishing houses offer discounted APCs for authors affiliated with Concordia University:
