Extending CAQ / Study Permit

Start early! If your study permit expires in August, start the process in February/March.
In addition to all the above documents for your first CAQ, you need a letter from the GPD that indicates your probable graduation date. Ideally, use your time limitation in the program to be safe and to not have to renew the documents again within your program. If you don’t have this letter, your CAQ will only be renewed for a year.
If your CAQ is still only granted for a year, you can call the Ministere de l’immigration and they can look into why only the short duration was granted. They’re surprisingly helpful!
To request a letter confirming full time status from myconcordia, call Birks and they will send it to you by email (cannot easily be done from myconcordia). There’s a fee for this letter.
