Ethics approval process
The lab has a single ethics protocol that covers all infant and child studies in the lab. Currently the protocol covers sucking methods, looking methods, home language recordings (e.g., LENA), live action studies (e.g., pointing, reaching), studies with adults looking at similar questions e.g. with reaction time or computer key presses, and focus groups. In-lab, at-home, and Zoom studies are approved, as well as standard questionnaires including CDI, demographics, LEQ/MAPLE, and language mixing. Double check with Krista and/or the research coordinator to make sure that your study fits under the current approvals or if an ammendment is necessary, for example if you are using a new questionnaire or approach. Ammendments can take time so plan ahead.
