What do we do? (Research)
We study how babies learn language, and especially how they learn two languages at the same time! Our lab uses a range of techniques in our research, including:
infant eye-tracking (looking-while-listening)
headturn preference procedure (HPP) and habituation
parental questionnaire data (language mixing, vocabulary inventories, etc.)
large-scale collaborations (e.g., ManyBabies)
direct observation of parents and children during reading or playing sessions
and more!
The lab is committed to Open Science practices, and all our data analyses are done in the R statistical programming language. We pre-register our studies and make all scripts, datasets and stimuli available on the Open Science Framework (OSF) upon article submission. We also upload pre-print versions of our articles.
