Canada Summer Jobs

Each year, Canada Summer Jobs puts out a call for applications to their wage subsidy program. The deadline is in December/January, and previous applications are available on the lab server at KBH-Admin/Canada Summer Jobs. Applications are very similar year to year, with slight changes related to the minimum CREW-RA rate at Concordia.

There are options to apply using a Grants and Contributions Online Services account (CGOS; which requires a GC key), through an online fillable form, or via mail or in-person. We always use the online fillable form. The online form may only be available 1 day after the application period has started. There is no log-in information required and we do not have a specific account for the CSJ. Before submitting, remember to save your previous responses as a PDF and upload it to the server.

Around April, we find out whether we received funding from CSJ and what amount will be covered (usually it is a portion of the total requested salary). We can then assign a CSJ employee (usually a full time employee in the summer), who will have a couple forms to sign agreeing to participate in the program (though it makes no difference on their end). At the end of the program (usually in August), we receive a cheque in the mail that can be cashed via Concordia's internal mail.
