811 is a great number to call if you’re wondering whether you should see a doctor/ go to the ER for a health issue. If you need to go to the ER and you have the mobility and time to choose your ER, the GoWell website is useful to estimate wait times.

Concordia Health services is pretty great for non-urgent health care. Check the concordia website for the number to call for appointments, you leave a voicemail and they call you back the same day. You usually get an appointment within 1-2 weeks. Once you find a doctor you like, you can request the same doctor over and over.

International students

You can’t log into your Bluecross insurance from September 1st to mid/end of September (when they get the list of current students from Concordia). Once you’re back in the system with Bluecross, you can submit claims for anything prescriptions/treatments you might have gotten in that time.

Other tips

• There are also health promotion specialists at Concordia that do consulting on sleep, managing stress etc.

• If you get prescriptions, consider signing up for an account at your pharmacy, to reduce your waiting time by doing a scheduled pickup. You can get the code to sign up from your pharmacist usually.
