Updating Lab Website
The lab manager is responsible for keeping the lab's website (infantresearch.ca) up to date. Some things that may need to be regularly updated include the "Meet the team" page, where lab members photos and bios are displayed, the "Join us" page, where we put out calls for open positions in the lab, and the "Publications" section, where we publicize our recent publications for the public to see. Keep in mind that we have a French and English side of the website, so anything that gets added to one side should be translated and added to the other, so the same information is displayed across both languages.
Meet the Team
The Meet the Team page should be kept up to date when new members join the lab, when members leave the lab or when lab members change positions in the lab (i.e., RA to Lab Manager, MA student to PhD student, etc.). New lab members are encouraged to write a short bio in both English and French (if possible) which will be uploaded to the website along with their photo. Each lab member gets their photo taken in front of the "lab tree" in the SP building (if they wish to be added to the website). If older lab members wish to update their bio, they can send the new version to the lab manager who can upload it in place of the old one. Generally, lab members who have left the lab get moved to the "Alumni" section after they've been out of the lab for a few months.
Join us
On the Join us page, we add any job postings or student openings in the lab. For example, when hiring a new Lab Manager, we would post the job description and remove it once the position is filled. Open graduate student and postdoctoral positions are also advertized on this section of the website, alongside instructions on what documents to include in your application, and where to send them. We would also advertize instructions for honours students hoping to conduct their project in the lab, and how volunteers looking to get involved with the lab should apply. This page should be kept up to date to avoid people sending irrelevant emails for positions that are no longer available, to avoid wasting anyone's time or energy.
Publications
The Publications page should be updated regularly as manuscripts get accepted for publication. We typically include the full APA citation for each paper with a link to the preprint and the OSF repository. On this page, Krista's CV should be updated and re-uploaded regualrly (biyearly-ish) as the information changes.
In the News
The In the News section contains information about media events that Krista or other lab members have been a part of. For example, podcasts, news segments or newspaper articiles would get added to this section. There is usually a bit less to add to this section, so it gets updated a bit less frequently than the other sections, but should still be kept up to date!
